Build a Life. Raise a Family. Create a Legacy.

Home is Everything!

Real estate - more specifically "homeownership" - holds a special place in my heart and my history. The early years of my childhood was spent in McLean, Virginia in a home built by my grandfather that was situated on a cul de sac named after my grandmother.  My grandfather was a land developer and a home builder whose talent and passion were instrumental in enriching the lives of many families with the American dream of homeownership. Recognizing the role that the home plays in so many areas of your life and its impact on your family today, as well as future generations, it becomes a natural part of the financial planning conversation. In honor of my grandfather's legacy, I have been a licensed real estate broker since 1997 and I am also proud to serve as a mentor to my son, Jonathan Davis - 4th generation real estate professional. Together with proper planning and preparation, we help first-time buyers with their starter homes, growing families looking to upsize, empty-nesters looking to right-size, and investors seeking to build their wealth.

Why listen to me?

Great question. The short answer, I'm great at what I do.

Over the pass 35+ years, I have been both humbled and privileged to have served the financial needs of thousands of hard working individuals...each with their own story, their own experience with money, their own circumstance, and their own vision for their future.  Through countless conversations, I've listened, I've learned, I've counseled, I've coached, and I've guided.

Over the span of my career, I have served as an auditor and tax specialist with an international CPA firm, a CEO of a Los Angeles based credit union, a financial advisor with a large Wall Street brokerage firm, a designated Chartered Federal Employees Benefits Consultant (ChFEBC), in addition to my current role as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and licensed real estate broker. Today, in my own private practice, I find it a blessing to be able to share my knowledge and experience through education via workshops and webinars, personal one-on-one counseling, and the implementation of thoughtful and well-designed plans. My three primary areas of focus are financial literacy, retirement income strategies, and real estate.

SIX QUICK PERSONAL FACTS ABOUT ME!

Am I really ready to retire?

"Lori, I am just about ready to retire....I've got my retirement savings and I'll be getting my social security, but I am just not confident that it is going to be enough. I'm nervous about the economy and unpredictable swings in the stock market. Even though I think I am prepared, I can't help but feeling stressed and unsettled about the reality of retirement."

Does this sound familiar?

You are not alone!  Interestingly enough, it seems that for many pre-retirees the routine of going to work everyday, contributing to the company's retirement savings plan, and living a lifestyle supported by their "direct deposit" is actually less stressful than making that final decision to retire. Well, the good news is that your thoughts and feelings are perfectly normal. The better news is that you can design a retirement lifestyle that offers a predictable monthly "direct deposit" that will last a lifetime. That lifestyle is what I'm an expert in. It's what I can help you set up and maintain.

As corporate and government pensions offering a "lifetime" of direct deposits continue to shrink, I recognize that there is a increasing reliance on your 401(k) and a tremendous need for alternative "pension-like" strategies that can provide similar security and peace of mind. For those of you who are federal employees having to rely more on your Thrift Savings Plans (TSP), I am also a Chartered Federal Employees Benefits Consultant (ChFEBC) specially trained to assist you with your retirement options.

What is Financial Literacy?

The President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy defines personal financial literacy as "the ability to use knowledge and skills to manage financial resources effectively for a lifetime of financial well-being."

I believe that Financial literacy is foundational to the well-being of individuals at every stage of life....from the point of "just getting started" to "preparing for retirement."  I enjoy facilitating educational sessions ranging from the most basic and fundamental principals of using money as an effective tool towards achieving short-term goals to the more advance subjects pertaining to investments, insurance, social security, and estate planning for the more long-term goals. The two primary objectives of these educational sessions are to help individuals become more knowledgeable about how to properly use this tool called money and to develop a process for making wise financial decisions.

"Money is not the goal.  Money is the "tool" needed to achieve the goal."
